The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation called fake information about payment in euros for services of consulates in Germany

The information that Russian consular offices in Germany oblige people to pay for services exclusively in euros is a fake. This was stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“We would like to clarify. Payment for consular activities in Russian consulates abroad is regulated by the legislation of the Russian Federation and is carried out in the local currency of the host country,” the message says, published in the telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic department.

The ministry added that consuls are only allowed to use so-called EC cards, which can be used to pay in almost all stores in Europe. The ministry also noted that in the absence of such a card, consulates allow payment by bank transfer or cash. The Foreign Ministry urged Russians not to succumb to informational provocations and stuffing anonymous Telegram channels.
