The Ministry of Finance proposes to cut spending on state programs by 1.6 trillion rubles

The Russian Ministry of Finance proposes to cut more than 1.6 trillion rubles of budget expenditures under state programs in 2023-2025. This is reported by “Vedomosti” with reference to the materials of the Ministry.

In particular, according to the newspaper, in comparison with the plans already approved for 2022-2024, next year spending can be reduced by 557 billion rubles, in 2024 – by 539 billion. There are no specific projects for 2025, but for 2025 the ministry lays down costs based on a long-term forecast that takes into account various indexation factors. Taking it into account, in 2025 it is proposed to abandon 534 billion.

This measure will affect 59 state programs and non-program areas out of 62. They want to remove the most expenses from the programs “Development of the transport system” – 390 billion rubles, “Scientific and technological development” – about 150 billion and from the program “Ensuring the country’s defense capability” – 120 billion.

At the end of 2021, federal budget revenues amounted to 25.3 trillion rubles, expenses – 24.8 trillion.
