The Ministry of Energy of Belarus spoke about the readiness of the second power unit of the BelNPP

Minsk, February 23, 2023, 13:07 — REGNUM The second power unit of the Belarusian NPP is 98% ready, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Energy reported on February 23.

“In the second half of 2023, the second power unit is planned to be put into commercial operation”the message says.

According to the Belarusian authorities, preparations are being completed for launching a chain reaction and bringing the reactor to the minimum controllable level – 1% of power. Upon successful completion of all work, a transition to the power start-up of the unit will follow.

Recall that the Belarusian nuclear power plant is located near the town of Astravets. BelNPP consists of two power units with a capacity of 1,200 MW each. In 2021, the first power unit was put into commercial operation.
