The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Sverdlovsk Region published photographs of the apartment of a resident of Yekaterinburg, who tried to extinguish the burning oil with water. As a result of the incident, a fire did not start, the department said.
“When a resident of an apartment building on Champions Street caught fire in her frying pan, she couldn’t think of anything better than to try to put it out with water. The resulting fiery outbreak immediately made her understand that it was impossible to extinguish the oil like that,” the Sverdlovsk Region Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified in the telegram channel. The department noted that there was no fire as a result of the cotton, so the residents evacuated from the building returned home.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also told how to act in such cases. If an oil fire breaks out in the kitchen, you need to turn off the stove and cover the pot or pan with a lid. Another way to extinguish such a fire is to cover the oil with soda, the Ministry of Emergency Situations advised.
On the evening of December 5, an explosion occurred on Champions Street in Yekaterinburg due to ignited oil, which the owner of the apartment tried to extinguish with water. An eyewitness told URA.RU that the roar from the explosion was similar to a cabinet falling, but there was no burning smell.
