MOSCOW, 23 Sep – The Russian Defense Ministry has provided footage of joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean between the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy, the detachments of ships have already covered more than three thousand nautical miles, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the sailors of Russia and China are practicing maneuvering in various formations and organizing communications between the ships of the group. Several joint and private training sessions were held, during which anti-submarine tasks were solved, issues of search and rescue at sea were improved, air defense of detachments was organized, and ship-based anti-submarine and search and rescue helicopters were flown. The ships of the Russian detachment carried out several refuelings with water and fuel from the medium sea tanker “Pechenga” at the sea crossing.
“The tasks of the patrol are to strengthen naval cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, monitor the sea area, as well as protect the objects of maritime economic activity of the Russian Federation and China,” the Russian Defense Ministry stressed.
During the patrol, the Russian Navy is represented by a detachment of Pacific Fleet ships consisting of the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, the corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov, Perfect and Loud, as well as the medium sea tanker Pechenga. From the PLA Navy, the destroyer “Nian Chang”, the patrol ship “Yang Chen” and the complex supply vessel “Dong Pinghu” are involved in the patrol.
