The Russian Ministry of Defense reported flights of Tu-160 missile carriers and Tu-22M3 bombers over the neutral waters of the Barents, Norwegian and Black Seas. The ministry clarified that they were planned.
IN Telegram channel The Ministry of Defense said the longest flight was 13 hours. The planes were accompanied in the sky by Su-30cm and MiG-31 fighters of the Northern Fleet and the Aerospace Forces.
“All flights were carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace,” Long-Range Aviation Commander Sergei Kobylash.
Long-range aviation pilots, he said, regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic Seas, as well as the Pacific Ocean. The last time similar planned flights were reported by the Ministry of Defense was on August 14.
In September, during the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu showed him Tu-160, Tu-22M3, and Tu-95MS bombers. All of them are capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
