The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the detonation of ammunition in the village of Maiskoye, Dzhankoysky district of Crimea. According to the agency, the fire occurred at the site of temporary storage of shells in the military unit.
“In the morning, in the Mayskoye region in Crimea, a fire broke out on the territory of a bunded site for temporary storage of ammunition in a military unit. There are no serious injuries, measures are being taken to extinguish the fire, its causes are being clarified, ”RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The fire in the village of Mayskoye occurred on the morning of August 16. Local authorities began evacuating the residents of the village. In total, about two thousand inhabitants were taken out of their villages. Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov left for the scene.
