The Ministry of Defense confirmed the detonation of ammunition in the north of Crimea


The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the fact of fire and explosions near the village of Maiskoye in the Dzhankoy region of Crimea.

As stated in the military department, the fire occurred on August 16 at about 06:15 Moscow time. It happened on the territory of a bunded site for temporary storage of ammunition in one of the military units.

According to the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkovthe incident resulted in the detonation of ammunition stored at the site.

According to the report from the scene, there are no serious injuries so far. Measures are being taken to extinguish the fire and find out the causes of the fire.

Note that the official version as a whole coincides with the stories of eyewitnesses. They reported that explosions were heard at about 6.30 am in the area of ​​the villages of Azovskoye and Maiskoye, then a large fire started, black clouds of smoke rose high into the sky.

As reported EADaily, in connection with the explosions, the entire population of the village of Maiskoye is evacuated. Some residents left the village in their cars or with neighbors. Those who have not yet been able to do this, but want to temporarily leave the settlement, the authorities are ready to take out on buses.
