The Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation has not recorded an increase in prices for metal products in the past two weeks, said the head of the ministry, Irek Fayzullin.
“We are working with the FAS. There has been no growth for the last two weeks, and there has been some decline,” Mr. Fayzullin told reporters (quoted from TASS).
On March 10, the department turned to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) in connection with the increase in prices for rebar in the last weeks of winter. The Ministry of Industry and Trade linked the rise in prices to the rise in prices for raw materials (scrap) and tariffs for transportation and electricity. The government, amid renewed complaints about rising prices for steel products, has decided not to resort to capping domestic steel prices or adjusting the profitability of steel companies for the time being.
