The Minister of Agriculture of Karelia was detained for taking a bribe in the amount of 10 million rubles

A criminal case on taking bribes on an especially large scale was initiated in the Republic of Karelia. The defendant in the case was the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, reports investigative committee of the Russian Federation.

According to investigators, between 2021 and 2022, the minister received a bribe in the amount of 10 million rubles through a figurehead.

“The bribe was intended for the commission of illegal actions in the interests of the entrepreneur, related to the receipt of subsidies (grants) for the implementation of measures to develop agriculture and support farmers,” the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports.

The crime was revealed thanks to the well-coordinated work of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region. The suspect has been detained. The Investigative Committee continues to investigate the case.

Earlier, the former vice-governor of the Leningrad region was detained for taking a bribe Mikhail Moskvin.
