VTsIOM: 86% of Russian residents are sure of the correctness of the decision to reunite Crimea with Russia
Moscow, March 19, 2023, 04:42 — REGNUM Residents of Russia consider the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014 the right step. Over the past two years, the level of support for this decision has increased, according to a survey by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM).

This decision is considered correct by 85% of respondents, a positive attitude towards the reunification of the peninsula with Russia was stated by 86% of respondents. The number of Russians convinced of the need to fully annex Crimea has increased by 10% since 2021, to 67%.
“A positive attitude towards the entry of Crimea into Russia is declared by 85% of Russians, 63% of respondents stated this with full confidence (plus 17% to the data of 2021)”, sociologists noted.
It follows from the survey data that 56% of Russian residents are proud of the annexation of Crimea, which is 8% more than in 2021. Another 14% are delighted that the peninsula has become part of Russia.
71% of respondents see more benefit than harm from the decision to reunite the territory with the Russian Federation, they mainly talk about the great tourist importance of Crimea. Of the respondents, 76% are confident in the more successful development of the territory within the Russian Federation, 77% believe that the life of Crimeans has changed for the better in nine years.
The study was conducted on March 14 and covered 1.6 thousand participants.
As reported IA REGNUM, On March 18, Russia celebrated the Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The decision was made in 2014 after almost 97% of the voters of the peninsula voted for it in a referendum.
