Italian Foreign Minister proposed to create a “free zone” around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

It is necessary to create a “free zone” around the Zaporozhye NPP, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy suggested on February 19 Antonio Tajani during a speech at a security conference in Munich.

“This should be the first point for the world: to stop the fighting around Zaporozhye, because the station is dangerous for everyone”– he said.

The diplomat stressed that Italy is not in a military confrontation with Russia, but provides support to Ukraine. According to him, the Italian authorities “desire peace, therefore they work for the defense and independence of Ukraine.”

Recall, Director of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Polishchuk believes that the Ukrainian side is not interested in creating a protective zone around the Zaporozhye NPP.
