The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it had launched a precision strike against terrorists operating within a Hamas command and control center, located in a former school in northern Gaza. The center was embedded in a complex that previously served as the “Halima al-Sadiya” school.
“A short while ago, under the guidance of IDF intelligence and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), our air force carried out a precise strike on terrorists operating within the Hamas command and control center. The center was situated in a complex that previously served as a school in northern Gaza,” the army said in a Telegram message.
According to the army, Hamas members had utilized the command and control center to plan and execute terrorist attacks against the IDF.
Israel was hit by an unprecedented large-scale rocket attack from Gaza on October 7, 2023. Following this, Hamas fighters infiltrated border areas, opening fire on military personnel and civilians, and taking over 200 hostages. According to official reports, around 1,200 people were killed.
The IDF has launched Operation “Iron Swords” in Gaza, which includes strikes on civilian targets. Israel has announced a total blockade of the enclave, halting water, electricity, fuel, food, and medicine supplies. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 40,000 people have been killed, and more than 94,000 injured. The Gaza Strip has been effectively divided into southern and northern parts, with Israel conducting ground operations in Rafah, considered the last stronghold of Hamas.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has urged both sides to cease hostilities, emphasizing that a settlement is only possible based on the UN Security Council-approved formula, which involves the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with its capital in East Jerusalem.
