The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case after the shelling of Skadovsk in the Kherson region

As Kommersant learned, during the SVO, for the first time, the military investigative bodies of the ICR suffered major losses. A missile, believed to be ATACMS, fired from Ukraine struck a building on the outskirts of the city of Skadovsk in the Kherson region of Russia, in which there were law enforcement officers, including the military investigative department of the committee, which investigates mainly crimes committed by Russian military personnel.

As a result of the explosion, the three-story brick building was completely destroyed. While sorting through the wreckage, rescuers, according to preliminary data, found the bodies of ten people. It is assumed that the victims of the attack could have been four ICR employees, the National Guard guards, representatives of the military police and civilians. The Investigative Committee itself announced the initiation of a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder”), “on the fact of shelling of civilian infrastructure by the Ukrainian side.”

According to the investigation, today, November 9, Ukrainian armed forces launched a rocket attack on the city of Skadovsk, as a result of which a civilian object was damaged. There are deaths, and the injured are receiving the necessary medical care. The investigation is establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons from among the Ukrainian armed formations involved in the organization and execution of this crime, the committee added. According to the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, five people were killed and 10 people were wounded as a result of the rocket attack.
