The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation began to investigate the case of an explosion at a military training ground in the Rostov region on November 3. Then, as a result of the incident, 12 marines were killed, sources in law enforcement agencies, the army and the Investigative Committee said.
“The tragedy occurred on November 3 at the Kuzminsky military training ground near Rostov. The preliminary cause is considered to be non-compliance with safety regulations. <…> The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee is investigating the death of 12 servicemen at the Kuzminsky training ground,” the 161.ru portal reports the words of sources.
It is clarified that all the dead were contract soldiers from Vladivostok. According to investigators, the incident occurred when about 20 Marines lit a fire at the training ground during their lunch break. Then the grenade launcher rolled into the fire and detonated.
