The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Children’s Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. This is reported in press release on the website of the court. Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC.
According to the statement, Mr. Putin and Ms. Lvova-Belova “are allegedly responsible for war crimes related to the illegal deportation of the population (children) from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation.”
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Russia does not recognize the decisions of the ICC in cases of war crimes of the Russian army in Ukraine.
