The IMF estimated the needs of the Ukrainian economy at $40-48 billion per year

In 2023, Ukraine needs to receive financing in the amount of $40-48 billion in order for the national economy to continue to function. This assessment was shared by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

“Ukraine needs $40-48 billion of financial support this year to keep the country fulfilling its obligations. Support will be provided by the EU, the US and others,” Ms. Georgieva said during a conference in Dubai (a recording of her speech is available on the YouTube channel CNBC). The IMF should play a “stabilizing role” in supporting Ukrainian citizens.

In October 2022, Oleksandr Rodnyansky, adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues, announced that the country needs up to $5 billion in budget assistance per month. In early February, the Council of the European Union agreed on the seventh aid package for Ukraine for a total of €545 million.
