One of the participants in the execution of Russian prisoners of war was a fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Makarenko
Moscow, February 10, 2023, 19:45 — REGNUM The identity of a Ukrainian serviceman who participated in the execution of Russian prisoners of war has been established. This is a 26-year-old native of the Zhytomyr region Sergey Makarenko. He himself admitted this in his video message, which he posted on social networks.
In the video footage, Makarenko tries to justify his actions by saying that the Russian soldiers he shot were not prisoners, and besides, they were part of the Wagner group.
“They say that the prisoners were shot … Firstly, they were Wagnerites, and secondly, they stormed us. Third, how is the captives? The prisoners – this is when they themselves came to us, laid down their arms. It didn’t happen that they came to us, laid down their arms and said: “We surrender”– quotes the words of the Ukrainian militant “RT in Russian”.
As established, Makarenko is a regular soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The video of the murder of Russian fighters was filmed near Artemovsk (Bakhmut). After the murder, his comrades-in-arms arranged a photo shoot over the bodies of the prisoners they had killed.
The Investigative Committee of Russia has already begun checking on this fact. As noted in the department, after establishing all the circumstances of the crime, a legal assessment will be given.
Recall that the UN recognized the video of the execution by Ukrainian militants of the Russian military as genuine. Official representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Martha Hurtado stated that the organization expressed its concern about the committed crime to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
