Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi expressed concern about the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP), which took place on August 5. This is stated in statementpublished on the organization’s website.
“I am extremely concerned about yesterday’s shelling of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, which highlights the very real danger of a nuclear catastrophe that could threaten public health and the environment in Ukraine and beyond,” Grossi said.
He called for an end at any cost to the hostilities that threaten the safety of the station, and which, in the opinion of the head of the IAEA, are completely unacceptable. In addition, Grossi condemned the violence that could be committed against station personnel.
