German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock stated that, from a legal point of view, it is not easy to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian side called for.

“Accessing frozen money from a legal point of view … is not at all easy,” Burbock said, quoted by dpa.

According to the minister, there are a number of good reasons for such a measure, but such a step must comply with German law and the decision of the European Court of Justice.

Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba previously asked Germany and other G7 countries to pass laws that would allow the confiscation of Russian assets and transfer them to Ukraine.
