There are enough volunteers participating in the military special operation in Ukraine; no additional conscription into the Russian armed forces is required. This was announced by the head of the committee of the Federation Council on defense Viktor Bondarev.
“I think there are enough volunteers who themselves go to restore order there,” said Mr. Bondarev (quoted by RIA Novosti).
“Hiding behind a human shield, they (the Ukrainian military.— “b”) do not allow our troops to go by leaps and bounds. Due to the fact that civilians are being driven there and, naturally, our army and the National Guard have to work selectively,” Viktor Bondarev added.
In Russia, military conscription takes place twice a year at the same time: spring – from April 1 to July 15, and autumn – from October 1 to December 31. The draft decree is signed by the president.
Previously, the Russian authorities, in particular, have repeatedly denied the possibility of general mobilization. Western media wrote that it could have been announced on May 9, but this did not happen. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the information about the mobilization “nonsense”.
