In Russia, there is a paradoxical situation with the prices of aviation fuel. While the cost of liquefied gas and gasoline is falling, jet fuel is going up. This was told by the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Maxim Shaskolsky.

“A paradoxical situation has developed with jet fuel. There is liquefied hydrocarbon gas, for which the price has fallen three times since the beginning of the year and is now the lowest in history. Gasoline is declining on the wholesale market. And the price of jet fuel is growing, although demand is declining,” leads RBC words of the head of the FAS.

He noted that this is an unusual situation, but assured that it does not affect the cost of air tickets. This is facilitated by the damper mechanism, under which airlines are reimbursed for part of the costs.

According to the St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, if in April 2020 a ton of jet fuel cost about 24,000 rubles, then on June 17 this year the price was already at the level of 65,129 rubles.
