The head of the CEC of Georgia was surprised by the decision of the President of the country


    Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia 38-year-old Giorgi Kalandarishvili expressed surprise at the latest decisions of the President of the country Salome Zurabishviliconcerning the personnel of the CEC, the Georgian TV channel “Formula” reports on August 5.

    Zurabishvili presented two candidates for the post of CEC chairman to the parliament, but Kalandarishvili was not among them.

    “I can tell you directly that such a decision was completely unexpected for me… You should ask Zurabishvili on the basis of what circumstances she made this decision… it’s better for Madam President to clarify this issue herself”– said Kalandarishvili.

    Recall that in accordance with Georgian legislation, a special competition commission selects several candidates for CEC members and sends them for approval to the president of the country, and the head of state, in turn, puts their candidacies to a vote in parliament.
