The Government of the Russian Federation canceled the decree according to which the period of stay in Russia for Ukrainians living in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics is 180 days instead of 90. The new decree was published on the official Internet portal legal information.
The decision to extend the period of stay was adopted in 2018. The document spoke about “citizens of Ukraine permanently residing in the territories of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.”
On February 22, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of these territories within the administrative boundaries. On September 30, the DPR and LPR became part of Russia.
