The FSB detained a resident of Buryatia who was persuading the military to go over to the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

FSB officers detained a resident of Buryatia, who allegedly persuaded Russian military personnel to defect to the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code (high treason). He faces life imprisonment.

“The Federal Security Service suppressed the activities of an accomplice of Ukrainian intelligence on the territory of the Republic of Buryatia. The suspect persuaded Russian military personnel to defect to the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces after arriving in the special operation zone,” the FSB said in a statement (quoted by TASS).

The FSB notes that “as arguments” for going over to the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the detainee used “deliberately false information discrediting the Russian armed forces.” According to the intelligence service, the man guaranteed to organize contacts for Russian military personnel with handlers from the Ukrainian special services and the Azov regiment (recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation).
