During the exercises, the focus will be on the tasks of countering threats to maritime security, demonstrating the readiness of the forces of the fleets to jointly maintain regional peace and stability. In the port, the frigate was visited by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolay Evmenovwho arrived in South Africa the day before. Also during the stop there will be sports competitions between Russian sailors and representatives of the naval forces of South Africa and the PLA Navy.
At the beginning of last week, the Russian ship made a business call to the port of Cape Town in the Republic of South Africa on the Atlantic coast, where it replenished fresh water and food supplies, and then visited the port of Durban (South Africa) on the coast of the Indian Ocean.
The project 22350 frigate of the Northern Fleet “Admiral Gorshkov” left Severomorsk on a long-range combat voyage across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea on January 4. For the first time, the ship is making a military campaign with the Zircon hypersonic missile system on board.
