Farewell to the former chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia Vladimir Churov will take place on March 24. He will be buried at the Federal War Memorial Cemetery in Mytishchi. This was reported TASS with reference to State Duma deputy Leonid Ivlev.

Farewell and funeral are scheduled for Friday, March 24, at 11:00 local time.

“It will be at the Federal War Memorial Cemetery in Mytishchi. He will be buried there,” the parliamentarian said.

The death of the former head of the Russian CEC became known on March 22. According to Ivlev, Churov died at the age of 71 after the operation. He was the head of the Central Election Commission from 2007 to 2016.

The deputy, in a conversation with 360, assured that, despite serious heart problems, the ex-chairman of the CEC had big plans for creative development. Russian leader Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to Churov’s family and friends. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the news of his death regrettable.

Politician, ex-deputy of the State Duma Boris Nadezhdin said that Churov honestly performed his duties as head of the CEC. He was sincere and decent, the parliamentarian noted.

The former deputy head of the CEC apparatus, Vladimir Grachev, worked with Churov for many years. He called his colleague a bright person and an expert in his field.
