The rating of the best Russian cities in terms of quality of life was headed by St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The experts of the financial marketplace “Compare” compiled a rating based on data on the crime rate, average life expectancy, population density and the ratio of earnings to the cost of housing.
Moscow is ahead of all cities in all indicators, except for the housing cost index. Nevertheless, experts put the capital in first place in the ranking. St. Petersburg lost out to the leader due to higher crime rates and lower life expectancy. But the favorable environmental situation and the relatively low cost of housing allowed him to take second place. Kaliningrad took third place due to low crime rates and a low price coefficient for apartments.
Tyumen and Sochi were also in the top five “comfortable” cities. And the remaining places in the top ten were occupied by such cities as Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar and Novosibirsk.
