The Federation Council does not plan an extraordinary meeting to adopt laws on the entry of new subjects into Russia after referendums in the DNR, LNR and in the liberated territories. This was stated by the chairman of the Federation Council committee on constitutional legislation Andrei Klishas.
According to the senator, the parliamentarians are working according to the schedule, the next meeting of the Federation Council will be held on October 4. “Why? The Federation Council works according to the schedule of the autumn session approved by the Council of the Chamber. The next meeting is on October 4,” Klishas said, answering a question about a possible unscheduled meeting.
In the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, on September 27, the final day of referendums on joining Russia is being held. Earlier, Klishas said that if the inhabitants of the territories vote for joining the Russian Federation, the procedure for their adoption will take place in the usual manner, in strict accordance with the Constitution, by adopting federal constitutional laws. “No one will postpone or artificially delay, but we do not plan to hold an emergency meeting of the Federation Council immediately after the referendums,” he said.
