The Federation Council approved the law on Russia’s withdrawal from more than 20 Council of Europe treaties

Senators of the Federation Council approved the law on the termination of international treaties of the Council of Europe with respect to Russia, including the Charter of the Council of Europe.

In total, more than 20 documents were denounced, including European conventions on the protection of human rights, on the suppression of terrorism, on local self-government and others. The treaties should be considered denounced from March 16, 2022 due to the termination of Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe.
