The EU failed to make a symbolic gesture by imposing the 10th package of sanctions against Russia on February 24, the anniversary of the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, as promised by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.
As of 00.00 Brussels time (02.00 Moscow time) the 10th package has not been published in the Official Journal of the EU. According to the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council, the ambassadors of 27 countries of the community were able to agree on all the details of this package only by 22.00 local time (00.00 Moscow time), but the EU did not have time to go through the procedure for its legal approval. The sanctions are expected to be published on the morning of February 25, Bloomberg reported.
