The DPR explained the reasons for the dam blowing up in Artyomovsk by the Ukrainian army

A dam in the city of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic was blown up by the Ukrainian army to achieve several goals. This was announced on February 25 by the adviser to the acting head of the DPR Igor Kimakovsky in an interview with RIA Novosti.

As Klimakovsky pointed out, as a result of the explosion of the dam, water flows went to Artyomovsk. According to Klimakovsky, in this way the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to stop the offensive of the Russian troops and cut off the assault units from the ammunition supply routes. In addition, the Ukrainian military, having blown up the dam, wanted the inhabitants of Artyomovsk to leave the city.

Klimakovsky explained that it is likely that the purpose of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was to create unbearable living conditions in the city and its subsequent destruction, so that restoration would simply be inexpedient from an economic point of view.

Also, the adviser to the acting head of the DPR indicated that the actions of the Ukrainian army can be called “desperate” and the explosion of the dam itself, most likely, means the intention to surrender Artyomovsk.

Previously IA REGNUM reported about the blowing up of a dam in the city of Artyomovsk by the armed formations of Ukraine.
