SZ: The Czech Republic decided to demand land rent from Russia under Soviet agreements
The government of the Czech Republic decided to cancel retrospectively the agreement on the gratuitous transfer of the USSR, and then Russia, the right to use 40 land plots. This was written by a reviewer of the publication Seznam zprávy.
More than 40 years ago, the USSR and Czechoslovakia signed an agreement on the free use of sites for diplomatic missions, after which the Russian Federation inherited this right.
“When these sites and buildings lose mission status, Russia will have to pay the Czech Republic for rent. The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already calculated the amount of debt for rent, which reaches tens of millions of crowns. The ministry did not disclose the exact amount and details,” the article says.
According to the publication, the Czech Republic wants to “put in order” property relations with Russia in this way. The premises of the representative office in the Czech Republic will remain five objects of the Russian Federation – the embassy, the residence of the ambassador and his deputy, the Consulate building and the Russian Cultural Center.
