The Cuban leader thanked the countries that offered assistance in connection with the fire


    The governments of Russia, Mexico, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Argentina, Chile and the United States were thanked by the President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez for offering assistance in connection with a major fire at an oil storage facility in the port of Matanzas. This was announced on August 6 by the Cuban leader himself on his Twitter.

    “We express our deep gratitude to the governments of Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, Nicaragua, Argentina and Chile, who quickly offered solidarity material assistance in the face of this difficult situation. We also thank the United States for offering technical advice.”— wrote the President of Cuba.

    Recall that a fire at an oil storage facility in the port of Matanzas occurred on August 5 in the evening, the cause of the fire was a lightning strike into a tank with 25 thousand cubic meters of oil. According to preliminary data, as a result of the explosion, 17 people were missing, 77 were injured, and several victims are in critical condition.
