The court sentenced Milov in absentia to 8 years in prison for lying about the army – Kommersant

The Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison the ex-chairman of the Democratic Choice party and supporter of Alexei Navalny, Vladimir Milov (recognized as a foreign agent). He was accused of spreading fakes about the armed forces of the Russian Federation (“d” part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). TASS reported this with reference to the court.

Vladimir Milov has not been in Russia since 2021. In June 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on the international wanted list. In the summer of 2023, the Basmanny court arrested the politician in absentia under an article about fakes about the RF Armed Forces. The term of imprisonment for Vladimir Milov will begin from the moment of his arrival in Russia or extradition.

Vladimir Milov was Deputy Minister of Energy from May to October 2002. According to the politician, he left the country due to fears that he might be arrested.
