The Kurgan Regional Court dismissed an appeal for a suspension of punishment in the form of a large fine to Dmitry Kokoteev, the former head of the Shadrinsky police department, who was convicted of corruption as part of an organized group. The data appeared on the website of the judicial organization.
“The decision of the judge of the Shadrinsk District Court <...> at the request of A. in the interests of the convicted Kokoteev D.V. is left unchanged, the appeal is not satisfied,” the decision says.
As a justification, the court indicated that “the question of the postponement of the execution of the sentence is decided at the request of the legal representative, close relatives.” The representative of Kokoteev attached a power of attorney to the application. Having considered the circumstances of the case, the court ruled that the applicant’s document was not sufficient to file the respective application.
The former head of the Shadrinsky Defense Ministry of the Interior was found guilty of corruption in 2022. The damage from the illegal activities of Kokoteev in collusion with subordinates and the ex-deputy head of the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Shamin amounted to 53 million rubles. Kokoteev was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles. Later, the court imposed an additional fine of 460,000 on him.
Earlier, URA.RU reported that the former head of the Shadrinsk police filed an appeal against the court decision on his sentence. Kokoteev asked to defer for six months the payment of a fine for a corruption crime.
