The court is delaying the consideration of the corruption scandal of the ex-chief road worker of Khanty-Mansiysk

The Khanty-Mansiysk District Court is delaying the start of the consideration of the criminal case against the former director of the municipal road maintenance enterprise of Khanty-Mansiysk, who is accused of corruption. This follows from the file of cases posted on the court’s website.

The indictment was transferred to the Khanty-Mansiysk District Court on June 1. Since then, court hearings have been postponed eight times due to various circumstances, including the failure of lawyers and representatives of the injured party to appear. Thus, the trial against Sergeev has not actually begun yet.

“One of the victims in the criminal case is a businesswoman, whom the accused allegedly forced as a kickback for signing a contract with DEP to make repairs in her house. She then contacted law enforcement agencies. But in the last few months she was ill and could not attend court hearings, so they were postponed,” said an insider familiar with the investigation.

An official request has been sent to the Khanty-Mansiysk District Court. At the time of publication of the material, no response had been received. The next court hearing in the criminal case is scheduled for November 16.

In total, Sergeev was charged under six articles of the Criminal Code. He will be tried for bribery, fraud, abuse of power and abuse of power. Also in the case materials are official forgery and the provision of services of inadequate quality.
