The court arrested the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Ismailov in a bribery case – Kommersant

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested for two months (until January 2) the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, Rufat Ismailov, in the case of accepting bribes and exceeding official powers. The defense asked to release Mr. Ismailov on bail of 5 million rubles. The accused himself does not admit guilt.

“The court decided to satisfy the investigation’s request and choose Ismailov’s preventive measure in the form of detention until January 2, 2024 inclusive,” the court decision said (quoted from TASS).

The lawyer of the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Bulaev, said that during the search, the defendant’s award pistol and service ID were confiscated, so he would not be able to use his powers and threaten other defendants in the case. In addition, the lawyer asked the court to choose a more lenient measure of restraint, since Rufat Ismailov has four minor children.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan was charged with receiving a large bribe (Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and abuse of power (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Rufat Ismailov was detained the day before. Searches were carried out in his home and office. The deputy head of the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, Dalgat Abdulgapurov, was also charged. Both were taken to Moscow to determine a preventive measure.
