State Duma deputies together with the Central Bank are in favor of tightening the conditions for issuing preferential mortgages. This became known from a proposal developed by State Duma deputies.
“Deputies of the State Duma proposed to raise the initial payment on it to 25% from the current 20% from January 1, 2024, and from July 1, 2024, to leave it only in regions with low demand for real estate,” quotes State Duma deputy Alexander Yakubovsky “ News”. At the same time, the Central Bank also advocates a further increase in the down payment, since there are risks of overheating in the market; moreover, the agency is confident that the program, which ends on July 1, 2024, should not be extended.
According to the majority of experts interviewed by Izvestia, the down payment rate needs to be raised. However, a large down payment and high interest rate can discourage buyers, while at the same time it will trigger a decline in the construction market, which will negatively affect the industry as a whole.
