From 2024, the medical examination program for Russians will include screening to assess male and female health, as well as testing for hepatitis C. Such changes were announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova.
“The medical examination program for Russians will be expanded in two directions from 2024 – screening to assess male and female reproductive health and testing for hepatitis C,” the Vedomosti newspaper reports Golikova’s words. It is noted that screening for antibodies to hepatitis C will be carried out once every ten years and for people over 25 years of age.
Such innovations are aimed at increasing the birth rate, the article notes. Golikova also recalled that 2024 has been declared the year of the family.
The state will use statistics on the state of the reproductive system, which will be obtained as part of the medical examination, to increase the birth rate. Rosstat data show that in September 2023, the birth rate in Russia decreased by 8.4% compared to September 2022.
