The Chief Executive of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan discussed cooperation prospects with the China FAW delegation

Russia’s “Kommersant” quoted the press office of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan as reporting that Rustam Minnikhanov, Chief Executive of the Republic of Tatarstan, and China Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. led by Hu Hanjie, Assistant General Manager of China FAW and Chairman of FAW Jiefang The Shang FAW delegation discussed prospects for mutual collaboration and mutually beneficial cooperation.

According to reports, Russia and China held a meeting in the inner city of Kazan on September 22, 2023.

“Chinese automaker FAW leads China in terms of production of both trucks and cars,” Minnikhanov noted.

He said Russia and China should strengthen regional cooperation and said the Republic of Tatarstan hoped to develop joint projects with China.

Hu Hanjie, assistant general manager of China FAW and chairman of FAW Jiefang, invited Minnikhanov to visit China FAW’s factory in China. Russia and China agreed to discuss this possibility during the next visit of the Tatarstan delegation to China.

Previous reports stated that in July 2023, the Sollers plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone of the Republic of Tatarstan would start producing diesel engines based on the design of the Chinese automaker Jianghuai Automobile. In addition, the factory announced in the autumn of 2022 that it will start producing JAC Sunray commercial vehicles and JAC N25/N35 flat-head trucks at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone factory.
