The Central Bank proposed a self-ban on obtaining loans to combat fraudsters

The Bank of Russia has proposed a self-prohibition mechanism for issuing loans to counter fraudsters. This is stated on website regulator.

“A person will be able to protect himself from a situation where fraudsters issue a loan or loan in his name. To do this, you will need to fix a special prohibition in your credit history,” the message says.

This will reduce the risk of attackers using leaks of personal data of citizens, including copies of passports, logins and passwords. To implement the mechanism, the Central Bank prepared and submitted the necessary legislative proposals for interdepartmental approval.

As Mikhail Mamuta, Head of the Regulator’s Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Services Accessibility Service, emphasized, before issuing loans, financial institutions will have to check for self-restrictions on the part of the borrower. If the creditor, despite the fact that they act, still lends money, he will not be able to demand repayment of the debt.

Clients will be able to set or remove self-restrictions an unlimited number of times, such an opportunity will be free.
