The Central Bank allowed discussions with other countries on the transition to settlements in digital currencies

The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said that the regulator considers it possible in the future to discuss with other countries the possibility of settlement in digital currencies.

“In the future, of course, it is possible to discuss the issue with different countries on conducting digital settlements on a bilateral basis,” Ms. Nabiullina said at a press conference (quoted by RIA Novosti). She noted that digital currencies of central banks provide such an opportunity.

On February 9, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexei Dedov said that Moscow and Tehran are discussing the use of digital currencies in mutual trade. The Central Bank of Iran is considering the possibility of creating a token of the Persian region together with Russia.
