The historical center of Odessa was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This was reported by the press service of the international organization.
“The World Heritage Committee on Wednesday decided to include the historic center of the port city of Odessa on the World Heritage List. This decision recognizes the outstanding universal value of the site and the obligation of all mankind to protect it,” — the message says.
According to the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, all 194 states that have adopted it have pledged not to take any steps that could harm the city, and they must also assist in its protection. In addition, the new status gives the Kyiv authorities the opportunity to request “enhanced technical and financial assistance” to ensure the protection of the facility.
