The Belgorod governor denied the breakthrough of Ukrainian saboteurs into the region

On operational meeting In the government of the Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov called information about a breakthrough into the region by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) fake. The Mash Telegram channel reported this morning about the attempted breakthrough of the DRG into the Belgorod region. The publication claimed that Ukrainian militants allegedly posed as Russian soldiers in a UAZ with symbols in the form of the letter Z, but were identified and destroyed.

“Some online publications are trying to spread information that there was tension at night on our border in the Shebekino area,” said Mr. Gladkov. “This is yet another fake information that they are trying to spread to increase the audience.”

The border regions of Russia have previously been attacked by saboteurs several times. At the beginning of March this year, militants broke into the village of Lyubechany located near the border in the Bryansk region. The attack then killed two civilians and wounded two others, including a ten-year-old boy. Later in the year, local authorities reported several episodes of intrusion prevention. At the beginning of summer, saboteurs broke into the Shebekinsky urban district of the Belgorod region. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported fighting with saboteurs in the local village of Novaya Tavolzhanka on June 4. At the end of September, border guards stopped another DRG incursion attempt.
