The beach season can open in the Odessa region after the local authorities find safe places to swim.
“Local authorities are now looking, together with the State Emergency Service, for areas where it will be safe to swim in the sea,” said Denis Monastyrsky, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
At the same time, those residents of Odessa who ignored the ban on visiting mined beaches were punished earlier. As noted in the Odessa Regional Military Administration, the desire to breathe fresh sea air can now cost lives.
The Ukrainian military had previously mined a beach in Mariupol out of fear of a landing by the Russian Armed Forces. The demining of the coast is carried out using the Uran-6 platform.
