The report also notes the effectiveness of a large-scale military campaign conducted by the fighters of the Armed Forces of Mali (FAMa) in the village of Mura in March 2022.

In addition, the top leadership of Ouagadougou questioned the content of the “Report on the Events in Moura from 27 to 31 March 2022” prepared by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. With this document, FAMa soldiers are charged with the murder of civilians during a counter-terrorist operation. However, the Malian authorities declared that the allegations were groundless.

The two neighboring West African states have a long history of security cooperation. Earlier, Mali Prime Minister Shogel Kokalla Maiga met with representatives of Burkina Faso to discuss the possibility of creating a common federation and sharing intelligence.
