He volunteered for a special operation a year ago, secretly from family and friends, died and was considered missing for a long time. A well-known Ural bard said in May 2022 that he had left as a builder to earn money, while he himself went to serve as a volunteer. Igor Istomin wrote songs for the Ural Pelmeni KVN team, performed at art song festivals, and ran a YouTube channel. In the summer, a 51-year-old man died, his relatives found out about this after another six months.

“He didn’t say anything to anyone. No one knew this, not his wife, no one. <...> As he left – not a single call, not a single letter. They started to panic,” said Leyla Rasulova, chairman of the board of the Sverdlovsk student brigade.

DNA examination helped to find out about the death of Igor Istomin. The farewell ceremony was held on May 18 in the funeral hall at the 24th city hospital. He was posthumously presented for the state award. The military commissar of the Kirovsky and Oktyabrsky districts of Yekaterinburg, Dmitry Dyadyushko, said that it would be handed over to the sergeant’s family.

Dmitry Yamshchikov, a former deputy of the Vladivostok City Duma, died in the zone of the special operation. He oversaw the work of the Youth Chamber.
