The total area of ​​forest fires in Russia doubled to 16,390 hectares per day. As of Tuesday morning, 75 forest fires were active in Russia on an area of ​​8,317 hectares, the press service of the federal Aviation Forest Protection Service said on Wednesday.

“Over the past day on June 14, 2022, 65 forest fires were extinguished in Russia on an area of ​​4,189 hectares. As of 00.00 Moscow time on June 15, 2022, 61 forest fires were active on the territory of the Russian Federation on an area of ​​16,390 hectares, on which active extinguishing work was carried out, ”the message says.

Forests are burning the most in Yakutia, where the fire area has almost tripled to 6,277 hectares. Also, a serious increase in the area of ​​fires is observed in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (5,847 hectares against 2,059 hectares on Tuesday) and Sakhalin (2,450 hectares against 1,300 hectares on Tuesday) regions. Fires with an area of ​​less than 1 thousand hectares are observed in the Trans-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk Territories, Rostov, Irkutsk, Tomsk and Kirov regions, in the republics of Altai, Tyva and Buryatia.

2,138 people, 293 pieces of equipment, 111 monitoring aircraft and another 48 are involved in extinguishing fires.

The fire season is open in 82 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the emergency regime is in effect in one municipal district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and in one municipal district of the Sakhalin Region. A special fire regime operates in 38 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
