The National Police of Ukraine will check the data on possible criminal offenses related to the financing of the party of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky “Servant of the People”, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption reported.
“NACP sent a conclusion about the committed criminal offense to the National Police of Ukraine for entering information into the Unified State Register of Pre-trial Investigations regarding a criminal offense and conducting a pre-trial investigation,” the statement says.
According to the agency, three individuals transferred funds to the account of the party in the amount of 2,896,000 hryvnia (78.4 thousand dollars), while they did not have the necessary income to make such contributions.
As noted in the NAPC, these people “in fact only disposed of the funds of third parties who intended to maintain the anonymity of the financing of the party.”
Ukrainian law prohibits making contributions to political parties by anonymous persons or under a pseudonym. For this, a fine of 100 to 300 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or correctional labor for up to two years, or restriction of freedom for the same period with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for five years, is threatened.
